SABAH, MALAYSIAN BORNEO
Sabah, well known as “the Land Below the Wind” because geographically, Sabah situated below the typhoon and monsoon belt, has a uniquely diverse population consisting of 32 ethnic communities, and boasts some of the world’s greatest wildlife treasures. The place of the highest mountain in South East Asia, Mount Kinabalu, located in the Kinabalu National Park, Malaysia’s first World Heritage Site. While, Sipadan Island and Layang-Layang Islands are amongst the top most 10 diving spots on earth! Sabah’s wide variety of attractions, its stunning beauty, year-round pleasant climate and friendly people make of it truly “Borneo’s Paradise”.
Sabah’s population is culturally diverse, with more than 30 different ethnic races and over 80 local dialects spoken such as SULUK, KADAZANDUSUN, RUNGUS, BAJAU, BISAYA, MURUT, BRUNEI and lots more. This unique traditions and customs have long been part of their daily lives and most of it has survived for eons; others have barely endured, touched by other influences that have led others yet to be forgotten altogether.
